Mrs. Campbell's strength as a litigator arises
from her ability to efficiently solve complex problems for her
clients. Mrs. Campbell represents individuals, small businesses,
television networks, production companies, corporations and
partnerships. Her practice covers a wide variety of substantive
areas of law from entertainment and intellectual property, including
profit participation disputes, to employment matters and partnership
dissolution. Mrs. Campbell has extensive experience in litigating
complex civil matters in both state and federal courts, as well as
in institutional arbitration tribunals and alternative dispute
resolution.
Mrs. Campbell received her Bachelor
of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1993 and
her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the
Law in 1997. Mrs. Campbell was an Associate Editor for the Hastings
Communications and Entertainment Law Journal. Upon graduation from
Hastings, Mrs. Campbell served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable
Robert J. Timlin, Judge of the United States District Court for the
Central District of California. After clerking for the Hon. Robert
J. Timlin, Mrs. Campbell joined the litigation
group at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP. Mrs. Campbell joined
the firm in 2000 and became
a partner in the firm in
2006.
Mrs. Campbell is on the Board of Governors of the Women Lawyers
Association of Los Angeles, and member of the Joint Task Force for
the Retention of Women in the Legal Profession. Mrs.
Campbell was selected as one of Southern California's Super Lawyer -
Rising Stars from 2004-2010.
Representative Cases:
In
an arbitration, secured a verdict for an independent production
company against accounting claims brought by a profit participant.
In a related case, obtained a favorable settlement of accounting
claims brought another profit participant.
Represented a private equity investment firm in dissolution of
partnership and assertion of claims of breach of fiduciary duty and
fraud against former employees and partner. Mrs. Campbell was able
to obtain favorable settlements in three separate actions on the eve
of trial.
Represented a television network against claims of breach of
contract, fraud, interference with contract and interference with
prospective economic advantage involving the termination of an
advertising agency. After obtaining dismissal of all but one claim
at summary judgment, obtained a favorable settlement on the eve of
trial.
Won a trial for a real estate developer on claims of breach of
contract against a local municipality.
Obtained a defense verdict in a wrongful termination case brought by
a former top executive of a national radio network.
